Details on HP Tuners Ford MG1 PCM Service

HP Tuners is thrilled to add custom tuning support for 2021-2023 Ford F-150 5.0L gas trucks equipped with the MG1CS036 PCM. Convenient direct flashing capabilities via the OBDII port using the OBDII interface and HP Tuners Software. This is possible due to HP Tuners’ new Ford MG1 PCM Service that is required to upgrade the PCM for tuning and can be purchased on their website by clicking here.

Once upgraded and licensed for (4) Universal Credits using an MPVI2 or newer OBDII interface, customers have full access to VCM Suite software. Courtesy of HP Tuners’ credit-based licensing system, customers can write to their licensed F-150 indefinitely assuming the PCM OS, serial number, and VIN do not change. This license system allows customers to tune as many supported vehicles as desired using a single interface.

The Ford MG1 PCM Service is a one-time send-in service that requires the original PCM to be removed from the vehicle and shipped to HP Tuners. Customers should expect 1-3 business days per PCM for this service to be completed, excluding shipping times. Additionally, this service does not require any relearns or reprogramming as long as the PCM returns to the same vehicle it came from. The Ford MG1 PCM Service can be purchased on their website by clicking here.

NOTE: If you have a Stage 1R kit and not a Stage 1 click here for that Power Pack.

Superchargers are nothing more than air pumps. They pump air into the engine, which allows you to inject more fuel, and that means a bigger “boom” when the mixture ignites and more power. On paper, no drawbacks. In reality, driving the blower and compressing air is not a very efficient process, and it generates heat. Heat is the enemy of any combustion engine, and even more so when you add boost. If the incoming air into the engine is too hot, it can cause the air/fuel mixture to ignite early, which is referred to as “detonation” or “knock”. This is the killer of engines, especially stock engines.

You can further reduce blower discharge heat by allowing the blower to breathe more efficiently. If the air can enter the blower easier and with less restriction, the blower uses less force/energy to pull that air in and in-turn less energy to compress it before discharging it. The best way to do that is to reduce the restrictions on the inlet of the blower as much as possible. This is where the Stage 2 upgrade comes in from going from a tiny 90 mm throttle body to a MASSIVE 132 mm throttle body.

NOTES:

  • If you have a Stage 1R kit and not a Stage 1 click here for that Power Pack.
  • All 2021-2023 Whipple trucks require the Whipple tune for tuning.
  • HP Tuners MPVI2/2+/3 or RTD3 with 4 Credits is required.
  • You MUST send your PCM to HP Tuners before tuning with the Whipple tune loaded in it. The Ford MG1 PCM Service can be purchased on their website by clicking here.
  • Windows 10+ laptop required.
  • All Forced Induction tunes will require extensive datalogging which requires a Windows 10+ based laptop. Instructions will be provided, but you will need to be comfortable with downloading and emailing file attachments to complete the tuning process. (Remote dyno tuning is available. Click here for details)
  • Forced induction tunes require premium fuel (91 octane or higher) and are built for a SINGLE FUEL OCTANE.
  • After purchasing your tune you must fill out a complete Tune Form before we can build your base tune.

All Forced induction tuning services are time-limited and will include 30 days of complementary datalog reviews and/or personalized adjustments to cover adjustments such as firmer/softer shifts, increased/decreased throttle response, etc. Changing or adding modifications to the vehicle that would require a tune adjustment would not be considered a "preference-based adjustment" and would not be covered by a complimentary update.

During the tuning process for Forced Induction tunes, a tune will be considered "complete" if no follow-up contact is received from the customer within 30 days of receiving a tune revision.

Should your tuning window expire for any of the above reasons, you will be asked to purchase a Re-Tune through the website to "reset" your tuning time period, at which point the customer will receive a new 30-day window for complimentary adjustments and datalog reviews.
